A root canal treatment starts with an examination of the teeth and gums, followed by an x-ray to determine the condition of the root canals, and to identify infection in the bone around the tooth.
Using a local anaesthetic, the dentist will numb the areas around the tooth. Once the anaesthetic kicks in, the dentist will drill a hole in the tooth to remove the pulp. Our teeth have 1 to 4 root canals, and they will all be cleaned, shaped and disinfected.
